April Update from Macomb
Wow! This year has just flown by! Here are some fun facts to know about this year: Although our numbers for pizza lunch have decreased since the start of the school year (in part, due to weather & temperatures), the number of students we serve outside pizza lunch has more than tripled! We now offer daily student-initiated prayer in school, programs for Junior and Senior High students, as well as life coaching! We continue to meet immediate needs of students, tutoring to aid in the PSAE/ACT testing the end of the month.
YFC Macomb has an active student leadership team that serves to voice their hopes and desires for YFC - as well as serve and lead the students of YFC. This team met and formulated the programs and activities for summer and the upcoming school year. Congratulations to Justin Derry, the incoming YFC Student President (Becky Scott has graduated).
Your Spring Cleaning can help YFC Students: All throughout the first week of May, we will be collecting items for our yard sale, which will be held Friday, May 6 from 4-8pm and Saturday, May 7 from 8-noon. Assisted drop off times are as follows: Sat April 30th 9-noon; Mon May 2nd 6-9pm; Tues May 3rd 3-5pm, Thurs 3-5pm, Fri 8-10am Otherwise, items may be left in the garage.
For those of you that are yard salers - some things on our wish list include: games for Play Station 2 (PS2); picnic tables, lawn furniture or lawn games, a portable basketball net and sheets of plywood (to paint onto).
Anyone interested in helping with YFC Project/Paint Day is invited to bring tools to paint and/or clean on Saturday, April 23rd from 8-noon.
We are excited to invite the present 5th graders to join Campus Life beginning Tuesday, May 17 from 6-8pm. We will celebrate the new addition with fun and games outside - enjoying a BBQ for dinner.

Seek ye first... the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, ….. and all these things …... shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
When we keep the main thing the main thing, we are able to handle the things that don't go so well with much better attitude and grace. I find that for myself, when I take consistent time with the Lord, no matter what life brings, things fall into place one way or another. It is when I don't take consistent time with Him, that I get frustrated and more on edge when things don't go my way. So, just take time with HIM! Amen.
One of the most effective ways to engage teens is through one-on-one conversations. So, a couple of months ago and this past month, we have had a time with the Jr. High students called “Cross Talk.” This time was coined in order to facilitate these one-on-one conversations. We give each student an opportunity to sign up for a ten minute conversation with an adult leader at CL M. Through Cross Talk, we are able to listen to them as they share some of their struggles or interests in life. Through coaching, we are then able to speak into their lives and give them advice, direction, or just a loving, listening ear. We do this as part of our regular Campus Life Middle school program on Monday nights.
Our Depth Charge group has been studying the book of Revelation the past couple of months. What a time for this study. Maybe it always seems as though Jesus is coming back soon. Of course, He is coming soon! We just don't know when, but are encouraged to be ready when He does. Though we don't have all the answers to the teens’ questions regarding the end-times, we have been concentrating on our eternal rewards and the need to tell others about Jesus in a loving and kind manner. God desires for us all to know the Son, and not wanting any to perish, but the book of Revelation is an eye opener to the fact that some will not place their trust in Jesus, the way that God provides for us to get back into a right relationship with HIM.
This leads us to our trip for the month of March. Six teens and I, along with Checkrow Community Church youth with new Associate Pastor Brett Fisher and his wife Dana, attended Dare 2 Share in St. Louis. This was the eighth year we have gone. Teens are always affected in a positive way. There are always struggles because the enemy does not want the teens to grow or share their faith with their friends. But we did anyway! Each teen called or texted at least one friend over the weekend and asked them what they believed about God. Pray for these teens and others that are actively looking for ways to share their faith in a very concerned and loving way.
