Jan11-Macomb Happenings

The start of the new year rang in some new ministry opportunities for us. Most notably, we kicked off Junior High (Grades 6-8) Campus Life. Even with three sports events for students in that age bracket, we still kicked off with a dozen students. Campus Life meets each Tuesday night, from 6-8pm with dinner included. Leaders for this program are: Karen Kuras, Angelica Markey, Caleb Markey, Phyllis Walters and Lauren Surprenant.

The Senior High Discipleship Group has changed its meeting time to meet Monday evenings from 7-9pm. This program, “Roar” - is based on the book “Roaring Lambs: A Gentle Plan to Radically Change Your World” by Bob Briner. Who knew Flash Mobs could be used for Christian purposes? (We do).

We continue to offer Friday pizza lunches. We have decided to postpone our Thursday after-school time until after the weather warms up - after Spring Break.

Want to Tutor?: There is a great need for tutoring of students. In order to launch a tutoring program we need people able to tutor in math and/or physics. We are hoping to offer after school, and perhaps evening, tutoring opportunities for Junior and Senior High students. If you would be interested in sharing your knowledge, please email Lauren with the subject matter and your availability.

The highlight of the last month of ministry was our Junior High gospel night at CL M. For those of you not familiar with our Campus Life outreach ministry, we typically have games, discussion, wrap up and snacks. A couple of times a semester we share the complete gospel of Christ and give teens an opportunity to respond. The Monday before Christmas was a perfect time for the junior high group. Several teens decided to give Jesus a chance in their lives and asked Him to be a part of their life! Many others indicated their positive relationship with Jesus. There were only a couple out of the group of more than twenty that were not ready, yet. Please pray for us as we follow up with the teens. Praise the Lord for what He has done!!

The high school ministry has also produced one on one talks with teens. Two of them in particular seem very hard to reach. I know seeds are being planted, but it is hard to see them go off into the world without the Lord, after investing so much in them. Please pray for Tom & Dave (not their real names) as we minister to them this last semester of their BPC years.

Recently we had a 5^th Qtr. Outreach at the Community Christian Center in Bushnell where we teamed up with Checkrow Community Church, Carpenter Tools International (CTI), and other local followers to give teens a fun, musical and spiritual event after a varsity basketball game. Around 50 teens showed up with thirty five of them staying for most of the event. The young adults with CTI did an outstanding job ministering and hanging out with the teens. We even had a chance to pray with one young man that was hurting inside and really needed some direction in his life. Pray for him as he is adopted and really needs to feel God's love from God's people.

Finally, we had a very un-normal Christmas this past year. All three of our vehicles were down at one time-the night before Christmas break. My dad was in the hospital with a brain hemorrhage, as many of you well know. My grandmother was not doing well at all and very close to death, it seemed. At the same time, our house was torn apart due to us refinishing our dining room and living room floors. We are just feeling like we are getting back to “normal.” Thank you for all of your prayers for my dad and for us as we continue in this fight against the evil one. For we are strangers and aliens in this world, and this is not our home. Come quickly Lord Jesus. Or we could thank you for tarrying so that many more might put their trust in you as their Savior! We serve a Big God.

Dec10-Thanks Ken!!

On behalf of the YFC board and staff, I want to wish Ken God's best with his endeavors to go to seminary in the near future. May the Lord bless you and use you in His Kingdom work!

Thank you, Ken, for your service to YFC and the Macomb area youth. Ken Krueger spent a little over a year building into teens, pointing them in a Godly direction and encouraging them in their relationship with God. When I think of Ken, I will remember two things. One, he is a big guy with a soft heart. Two, he loves Jesus and those around him.

A highlight of Ken's ministry was taking 3 teens to Agape Fest for fun, fellowship, and growth. Unfortunately, the same month Ken lost some very close people in his life (two friends and his grandmother). Please say a prayer for Ken this Christmas season as you reflect over the last year of YFC's ministry.

Campus Life

When Jesus comes a second time it will be AWESOME! No more worrying about what to do or how to do it. No more tears or agony. No more pain or death. All will be fulfilled. Jesus came to earth around 2000 years ago to save us from an eternity without knowing the love of God, without having an everlasting relationship with Him. May you all find peace this Christmas season and pass His love onto someone around you that doesn't know Him. That will be just like someone did for us, before we knew HIM as our Savior.

Here's a snapshot of what has been happening in Bushnell over the last month:

• Teens serve at the Youth for Christ Annual Banquet

• Good guy time growth studying the book of Revelation on Wednesday nights

• Gospel continues to be presented at CL and CL M – two recommitments and a young lady wanting to talk with staff further about the Lord last week

• Volunteers initiating conversations about the Lord with teens. That happens regularly after a CL meeting during “hang out” time.

• Shopping Trip with 5 girls and a boy. Praise the Lord for the one brave young man that went.
