May11-Macomb News

Wow - we are just having a blast at YFC Macomb! We continue to pack the place with Pizza Lunch - and May 27th is our last one for the school year. We will, however, be offering $2.00 lunches during finals week (the menu is planned to be BBQ, but will default to tacos and/or Mac & Cheese if the weather is not cooperative.) There will not be lunch served on the last day of school.

Fifth graders are now eligible to join Tuesday night Campus Life Club… the 8th graders will upgrade (promote) at the start of school.

The Campus Life Dance for Japan Danceathon raised $350 for the Red Cross to aid in this disaster!

The First (in recent years) Annual YFC Yard Sale was a huge success! We earned about $850 and donate many clothes and items to The Crossing Thrift Store (the funds raised there go to local benevolence efforts).

We are running our 6 week program, through June 9, for high school seniors called College Ready, helping incoming freshmen “navigate the college maze, recognize the key areas where they'll need to succeed, and craft their own plan and personal vision”. A repeat of the program will be offered in a one-day session in August. More details to follow.

Watch for the Macomb campus students at Heritage Days - we will be sporting brown tee-shirts, with a wi-fi-like cross, reading Youth for Christ: Connect to Jesus. We will be marching in the Heritage Days parade and hosting Minute to Win It Games in the park. Come try a few.

Wish List: As our numbers continue to increase and the weather improves, we continue to be in need of patio/lawn furniture. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Also, we have several students that would love to go to camp, but are unable to do so. If you would be interested in providing a scholarship, please contact Lauren at 252 0404.

May11-New Board Members Needed

What are we missing? YOU!!
YFC-WI is looking for representatives from all of our supporting churches to be on our Board of Trustees. Just as we partner with area churches for Pizza Lunches and other events, we would love to have an ecumenical board.

We need your perspective, we need your vision. This allows YFC to become YOUR ministry, not ours.

Have you ever had a packed month? That's the way I feel about this past month or so. There is always so much going on in the month of May. Good stuff, though. Since there has been so much lately, I am going to give you this month's update in bullet form. Here goes:

Volunteer Leaders
They are AWESOME! Wouldn't be anywhere near as effective without them.
THANK YOU!!!
They do so many things for teens and myself for the Kingdom of God!

Faith Bible Camp Jr. High Retreat
Andrew and Abby each got to take a friend with them
We had a dozen Bushnell teens at this retreat
Pray for a couple of JH girls struggling with life situations and the young woman counseling them – Praise the Lord that they have trusted in Jesus

Gospel Night at Campus Life Middle School
More new students get to hear the gospel presented clearly – Pray for God to make the seeds grow
Mary Beth, a JH volunteer leader, shares a poem about God in an amazing way and the teens listen.

BPC Baccalaureate
All graduates attending receive a Bible – will they use this weapon in this fight against the devil?
Very clear gospel messages communicated by various speakers – Pray for seeds to sink into good soil

Sr. Night at Campus Life
One senior said, “I don't know what I am going to do without Campus Life.”
Another said, “Even though it doesn't look like I am paying attention, I think about all the things you guys talk about.”
Still another said, “Campus Life has taught me a lot about God and respect for others.”
Red Neck Olympics were a hit – “Look out for that trash can lid.”

Depth Charge
One young man is really getting this Jesus thing and hungers for more
I see my own children growing in their knowledge of God and asking questions
Pray for a couple of high school girls that are being distracting and can't seem to focus.

YFC Golf Outing – June 4
Come play, support YFC, and enjoy the beauty at WIU's golf course

Arkansas Mission Trip – June 18-24
Our whole family is going and I am excited
We need to raise $1000 for the trip – Can you give an extra gift for us?
Pray for the teens that are considering going on the Arkansas Mission Trip – We have 5 potentially.
